Dr Yupin Chung is Curator of East Asian Art at the Burrell Collection, Glasgow Museums and an Honorary Senior Research Fellow at the School of Culture and Creative Arts, University of Glasgow. She obtained her PhD in Museum Studies from the University of Leicester, MA in Museum and Gallery Management from the City University of London, and a BA in Art History from the Fu Jen Catholic University in Taipei, Taiwan.        

Chung’s research focuses on the interaction of art and economics, with a particular interest in the influence of Western collectors and dealers in the Chinese art market and museum collections. She has written on a number of significant collectors and dealers of Chinese art, including essays on William Hesketh Lever (1851-1925) and Frank Partridge (1875-1953). She is currently writing a new publication on economic and aesthetic practices and discourses in Chinese art collecting.
